Dear readers,
Berlin must love me. I still remember one day in January of 2016 when, as a broke student renting out rooms in elderly women’s apartments, I opened my email and read I got a job as a PhD student in Berlin to work on languages and travel and do the research I had desired to do for so long. My life was changing in the exact direction I wanted it to. I felt almost the same level of excitement last Tuesday when I found out I got into Comic Invasion Berlin, where I can sell my comics and art in my little corner!
Of course these Berlin events are of different scales, but to understand this, you need to put yourself in the shoes of an ADHD child: You get a toy—>Excited! Your parents buy a huge house where you get a room—>Excited! That’s more or less how it works for me even now. Although, I think I would be less excited about getting a house than getting into Comic Invasion (what is wrong with me? 🤷♀️) Ok, this metaphor doesn’t work anymore because I’m rambling.
I know most of my readers do not live in Berlin, but for all of you who do or might be there on 11-12 of May by chance, you are cordially invited to pass by and check out my work. You can get all the details at the Comic Invasion website.
Now that I bragged about this, it’s time to introduce some self-deprecatory humor. After I read the Comic Invasion email above, I was so hyped that I immediately planned my trip, let all my Berlin friends know I’ll be there in May, I even did some yoga, and then PUFF! I suddenly got a headache and chills, I wasn’t feeling well at all. I was convinced yoga made me sick, but having a fever in the morning said otherwise. What ensued was a long week of being sick… Fortunately, my misery led to some minimal creative output. The less creative thing I did is having watched several seasons of You (and I can recommend it, it’s a good show).
This is my creative output: A completely true story and it got even worse than this [I called the ER and they convinced me I’m fine].
This has been my week, dear readers. Now excuse me while I try to rescue my lost time of working on Brave Hearts and preparing for Comic Invasion! 🏃♀️
Thank you for reading!
Until next time,
Ana
Cool! Congratulations for getting into Comic Invasion Berlin, Ana.
It's so meaningful meeting readers and making new ones at conventions.
Enjoy!
Sorry that you've been feeling sick this week. I hope you feel better soon.
How exciting that you'll be able to display, talk about and sell your comics in Berlin.
Wishing you a great trip!
