Dear readers,
Today I am sharing a very special comic with you—the one that started it all.
I made this comic at the beginning of this year for my PhD supervisor Prof. Manfred Krifka, who is the most humble and the most knowledgeable scientist I have met to this date. I am so grateful to have been his student. Thank you!
This comic is now a part of the collection of stories and articles we, his ex-students, have given him as a retirement gift. This comic will always be special to me because a) I made it for Manfred, and b) because it made me start drawing comics again. This is the first comic I drew on my iPad, after which I started sharing them with other people. The comic is a bit rough around the edges but I’m sure that’s how I’ll always feel about my past work.
How I became a linguist
Thank you for reading! If you liked this, like, comment, share, and let me know who has inspired you in your life.
Until next time,
Ana
It is interesting to learn how linguists ‘discover’ linguistics. My older brother was learning French at school. Me (10yrs old): ‘OMG it’s another language, how do they do it”. So I started to read his textbooks and found the differences fascinating.
