Podcast on Bislama and Nafsan + Vanuatu comics
Hi everyone,
I thought I would start today with this comic based on true events from my linguistic fieldwork in Vanuatu, which is very topical for this post, because….
I recorded a podcast episode about Bislama and Nafsan, hosted by Elle Charisse! Together with Nick Thieberger, my former PhD supervisor, we talk about Bislama and Nafsan, the funny side of Bislama, culture, food and everything we like about Vanuatu and Ni-Vans (people from Vanuatu). You can listen to it by clicking on the image below (the video embedding didn’t work) or here. You can also find this episode on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Google Podcasts.
Thank you for listening!
Here is one more comic based on true fieldwork events (pretty accurately actually):
In my defense, this rooster wasn’t targeted as a meal due to its loudness. We simply noticed the recordings were much easier to make after that meal and realized it was in fact that same rooster that had ended up on our plate.

Thank you for reading!
