Dear readers,
I’ve been traveling in the past weeks and that’s why I was absent for a while, but now that I am back, here are some artistic impressions from my beautiful trip to Sicily.
Etna
I've always been fascinated by volcanoes and recently I have finally gotten a chance to see one of them up close: Mt Etna. I only managed to see one of these little flowers, which are soon going to be in full bloom.
Elusive peace
In a small square in Catania, I saw the pride flag with big letters in white spelling out PACE, Italian for “peace”. I tried to take a picture of the flag, but it continued to elude me.
Roman realism
The more I see archeological sites of Romans and Greeks the more I am convinced that we are one and the same type of (Western) culture. Not much has changed since ancient times, and here is some proof from mosaics of Villa Romana del Casale. It seems rich Romans had a lot of fun.
Thank you for reading this collage about my Sicilian inspirations. There could be much more to cover, but these are my top 3 takeaways.
Where are your inspirations coming from this summer? Let me know in the comments.
Until next time,
Ana
