Dear readers,
I am happy to finally show you page 4 of my comic Bleeding hearts. Since this part of the comic completes the first act of the story (I think, not an expert in storytelling yet), I put all the pages together in this post. I hope you like it!
It took me a while to draw this last page because I just couldn’t simplify the drawing of the toys any more than I did. It probably comes through that I love toys, way more than any other adult I know. And the 4th panel is a little Easter egg for all the LEGO fans who also feel LEGO minifigure packages to figure out which one is inside.
This comic follows closely my real-life experience and drawing it has been healing, but also harder than I could have anticipated. This is due to several reasons. First, even though it’s quite short (around 10 pages), I have the urge to make it my best comic so far. Retelling all this is not only about me, it is also about my late grandma and it is hard not to see this comic as an homage to her and her memory. Because of this, I want to make it as good as it can be.
Second, spending hours drawing and coloring these moments makes me plunge right back in time and relive each moment over and over again. I’m just starting to realize I still have a lot to process about the events depicted here. Add to this being busy with work and other things, and this comic might take a while to get finished. I hope you will be here for the ride :) I do need this ride and I don’t want to do it alone.
Thank you for reading!
Until next time,
Ana
